Mt.Jefferson State Park
	GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN  Featuring Mile High Swinging Bridge, animals, museum, restaurant and more
THE BLOWING ROCK North Carolina's oldest travel attraction. Beautiful short scenic walk with a garden waterfall, gardens, observation tower and unique gift shops.
	THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL Hike the Appalacian train or arrange for horsebackriding trough the park.
LINVILLE CAVERNS  Linville Caverns, North Carolina's only true cavern system open to the public, holds the distinction of having the only fully underground trail on this site. The Caverns are located not far from the towns of Boone, Blowing Rock, Asheville, and Marion. The caverns are in a beautiful mountain valley and they lead under Humpback Mountain below the Blue Ridge Escarpment.
Fly Fishing
RIVER GIRL Located in the historic Todd Train Depot. Full service fly fishing lessons/guided trips, bait, tackle, canoe, kayak, tube and bicycle rentals, hiking, camping/outdoor supplies, and fishing gifts.

HAWKSNEST SKI RESORT Located in Seven Devils, Hawksnest offers ziplining in the sumer and snow tubing in the winter.
	SUGAR MOUNTAIN July 3– September 6, 2009 Weekend Scenic Lift Rides Lift rides are available every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am until 5:30pm. Bring the whole family, a picnic lunch, your mountain bike, or just a friend and enjoy a breathtaking 45 minute roundtrip lift-ride to Sugar 5,300 foot peak. The majestic scenery is worth it!

BARN QUILT PROJECT The quilt is a symbol of comfort and family. Barns are symbols of our Heritage and community.  What would be better than combining the two and creating a visual image of who we are and where we come from.  Ashe county was one of three counties to be invited to participate in this project.  Follow the link and scroll to the bottom to see a tour of the barns and a map.

SPRING

MerlFest - the last weekend in April, this event is a must for music lovers.
Porch Pickin' Music - Bluegrass and old time music jams in and around Ashe County
Blue Ridge Celtic Festival - in May an annual event in Blowing Rock celebrating the area's Scottish and Irish heritage.


SUMMER

Ola Belle Reed Festival - in August folk and mountain music in Lansing, North Carolina

Appalachian Summer Festival - a month long series of cultural events (dance, music, theatre and more) sponsored by Appalachian State University.  One of the great benefits of spending the summer near Boone.

Christmas in July - a festival in downtown West Jefferson sponsored by the Ashe County Christmas Tree Growers Association

The Highland Games - in July an annual event at Grandfather Mountain Celebrating Scottish heritage.

Barter Theatre -  a bit of a drive to Abingdon, but worth it to enjoy a play with top actors at the famous and historical theater.

FALL

Resonator Guitar Competition - October- in Todd, an annual music event

Ashe County Civic Center  - Home to many of the musical and theatrical events that come to Ashe County, from the Kiev Symphony to old-time music.

Ashe County Cheese Company - The Carolina's only cheese manufacturer, Ashe County
Cheese has been in business since 1930. Watch cheese being made, then select one of your favorites from our cheese and gift shop.

Todd General Store
Old time general store established in 1914 with extensive deli, collectibles & antiques, gourmet foods, old time music jams on Friday evenings. Storytelling in season on Tuesday evenings. Storytelling and Friday night music events are donation only.

Ashe County Farmer's Market - Produce, nursery plants, jellies, cakes, breads, handmade items and more, all home grown and handmade. Saturdays 8 am - 1pm (May 14-October 29) Wednesdays 8am - 1pm (July 13-?) Back street of Downtown
